Why not? Citi does not have a legacy carrier transfer partner. Getting one would put TYP on par with MR and UR. If AA was a transfer partner, there would be 1,000,000 blog posts writing about AA sweet spots and how to maximize the new transfer parter if you sign up for a Citi Premier card (through an affiliate link, of course). AA as a permanent transfer partner would lead to likely a significant bump in Citi applications.
