The Park Hyatt is, IMO, the best, and the Centric Magnificent Mile commonly the best bargain, if not cheap, and well situated. (Okay, next to a hospital, so not perfect; noise never bothered me there.) The HR Chicago was just wildly inconsistent. Of 100 or so nights I spent there, I was treated very well about 15 and measurably poorly about 30. McCormick was fine, but always too far from where I needed to be. The Centric Loop was, when i stayed, a "fail" on the fitness center and was not covering Globalist breakfasts, a problem that may be remedied now. And, just generally, I want to be North of the River or out in a suburb (Oak Park, Evanston...)

In 2019, I transitioned to Marriott and now usually choose the Hotel EMC2. Next to the Centric Mag Mile, it has all the same pluses and minuses, but it is more boutique-y. I typically don't go for that characteristic, but they do it right with personalized, "we remember you" service. They continued food amenity and fitness center service throughout pandemic, which I appreciated. And I haven't been nickel and dimed.
How would you rate the Park Hyatt vs. Ritz Carlton vs. Gwen LC? Have a stayed booked at the PH after reading bad reviews on the Ritz online (but conservatively hopeful that the STR Chicago can somehow open in time for my visit)
