I used Alaska miles on AA metal to go from Athens to JFK none stop at 57k under $50 while Delta wanted over 200k and $400 - United that only flies to Newark and that does not work for me charges when they have availability 80k and up to 200k with a lo YQ
Every one else makes min. one stop with hi YQ
plus always good to have alternate ways to travel with miles
AA is a major carrier if I can find a way to use to my advantage why not
