Oh yeah those are the good times! I remember grabbing Yoichi 15 for ¥5400 after 10% discount at duty free in 2015. I was still buying scotch back in 2013. Wish I bought more Japanese whiskies back then. I still think 2014 and 2015 are the golden time due to yen being weak. You can still taste Yamazaki 25 and Hakushu 25 at retail price at suntory distilleries when it opens!
my father is of the view that there is always another must have...you just have to have it before it becomes the must have. He has cases and cases of stuff that he knew was good that people did not give a crap about. I'd say 2012 was uber prime but 2016 was the start of the end. But I'm confident the number of stills online and japanese will eventually not care, should return to normal in about 4 to 5 years.
