There are a million miles between “no restrictions whatsoever” and “lockdown”. It’s in this space that most developed countries are currently sitting, save for outliers like the U.K. & USA on one extreme and Australia and NZ on the other. But the desire to make childish and bombastic pronouncements like “freedom day” and to commit early on to no rollbacks of any sort have backed the U.K. Government into a corner.
