The ticket was actually lost on the way to South Africa (lost in the mail), and when the departure date came around, there still wasn't a ticket. Because of the inconvenience, MP said that they would re-credit the miles and waive the re-deposit fee. However, I would have to pay the $100 for the lost ticket.
Just to add: I called MP in Singapore, and now they are telling me that I need to bring in the ticket. When I told her that the ticket is lost, the lady says "I know, but we need a copy of the ticket."
I say: "The ticket is lost I'm paying the $100 fee for the lost ticket."
She says: "Okay. But we need a copy of the ticket in order to give you the miles. Have you sent us the ticket?"

LOL! Was this really what they said? You just made my day!
In all seriousness, you might need to fill out the lost ticket form and have them send you a copy of the ticket, just so you can turn around and send it to them in order to credit the miles. This sounds like a case of different departments being clueless about each other's processes.
