I have a relative that was supposed to fly today on AS854 from Kona to Seattle and then connect onwards to another city. They were booked into first class and had preordered their meal for today's flight. Flight 854 was delayed over 4 hours today which would have caused a misconnect in Seattle for my family member so they decided to stay in Kona one more night and be rebooked on tomorrow's 854. They called Alaska this afternoon to see about pre-ordering their meal for tomorrow's new flight but were told since it was less than 20 hours away that it was not possible. It is understandable that pre-ordering wasn't available being this close to departure but the agent then said for them to bring their own food on the plane because there might not be any extra meals loaded for those who didn't preorder. Is this common Alaska policy to not load first class meals onto the plane for those who did not pre-order? I can understand not getting your first meal choice if you didn't preorder but to not be offered any food at all on a 5+ hour fight in paid first class is laughable. Hopefully someone can please shed some light on this? I hope the phone agent was mistaken.
The flight should be fully catered for FC; they simply may not get a choice or their first choice of what the meal is.
