That happened to me once, but it was a new Cadillac. First thing I did was look up the price on the internet for a new one, and it was below the value. I rather not get any vehicle like that to be honest. I have a rental coming up in July and I'll be using my Green Card because when I use the Platinum card it never charges me for the rental. I just don't need any issues if something happens, and then Amex says they didn't charge me so they aren't paying up. Even though it shows on my account that I have coverage on both cards, it stopped working in 2019 and hasn't started worked since.
AMEX should just make CDW primary and not deal with "enroll" to get primary. I understand that there is (extra) charge to be primary but in case the enrollment didn't take (not charged), like stated above, AMEX can said you are not covered if there was an issue with rental. With a $695 annual fee, they should include primary CDW.
