For those of us that are already AA elite, the various things they've done this year to extend/make status easier to retain, it was stated that Elite Choice Benefits would not be granted unless status was earned. Furthermore, if you read the formal Elite Choice terms and conditions on AA's Elite Status page, literally the very first two terms state:

"Only customers who qualify according to the published elite status qualification requirements are eligible for Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum or beyond Executive Platinum rewards." and...

"Customers who obtain elite status via other means such as through an exception or through a challenge are not eligible."

That seems pretty clear
