Most car insurance companies have the ability to pay for your insurance on the computer and should have an "other amount" to pay. While it would be a major pain you can do that 27 times, I think if done in one day the insurer at the end of the day would just see. Although, insurers are looking for ways to get you to not use CCs, Allstate told me I lose my auto-draft discount if I pay in advance with a CC which I did for years, the discount is about 5% so more than I would earn on any CC unless I did the 27 GC thing (which I don't have the time to do).
Although I am interested as to why OP has a $5,400 auto insurance bill, unless he has a Lamborghini or a Maserati maybe he could get more savings by shopping around for new insurance vs buying 27 GCs.
