I agree and concede that it is exceedingly rare for there to actually be a misbehaving child in the lounge. To amend my comment, the policy is likely less about maintaining a relaxing environment and more about reducing crowding - certainly nobody is being punished. While not exorbitant, tacking on another $30 per child may dissuade some families from visiting.
And they should charge for kids. They are taking up a seat in the lounge. There's some adults that don't drink alcohol or eat much. The eight year old kid is taking up the same spot that a spouse or colleague would be taking up if the lounge is full.
I remejmber back when the Skyclubs would admit a second adult and any kids up to either 18 or 21 how abused that was. A lot of times the skyclub dragons would admit adult children.
