I think tr3k is asking about countries where CDW is mandatory, but may have a high deductible (excess). I am not persuaded there is any important benefit to using the extra-cost Premium Car Rental product in this circumstance, but it doesn't cost much for an occasional rental.
That's exactly what I mean - the "non-declinable" CDW often comes with a high deductible and a number of caveats and exceptions.
$20 is a small price to pay to save yourself a potential $1000, *if* it works under these conditions. So - that is my question. Does the "premium" product work when CDW is not declined?
As an aside, anyone knows when Amex changed the language in their policies for the standard protection to require CDW to be declined? Just curious how long I've been "risking it"
