OP, I'm going to weigh in with a not worth it vote. However, my experience on FT is that when posters ask questions such as this, they really have already decided to pursue the status and really are just looking for other parties to agree with them, so my prediction is no matter how many "not worth it" votes you get, you will nonetheless pursue 1K.

Kacee alluded to, if you believe as a 1K you will have a "whole year to take advantage of free upgrades" you might be in for an unpleasant surprise if travel returns to more normalized levels in 2022 and beyond. Certainly, there has been a nice window for complimentary upgrades on basically all the legacy carriers over the past year, but that window will, without question, eventually close.
