There's a difference between Platinum Travel Services (who pre-pandemic had awesome phone agents and charged a $39 per ticket fee) and AmexTravel.com (which I believe is actually Expedia).

I've been booking these /F80* fares through AmexTravel.com because they've pretty consistently saved me about $30 per one-way. It's another way to recoup the annual fee on an Amex Platinum.

The best I've done so far has been a $400 discount on a $2400 JL business fare from NYC-TPE; that was an "International Airline Program" discount. It seems that currently Amex publishes recommended fares on AA at about the same cost as IAP fares on BA/IB.
