Since posting this I’ve had multiple stays at this property.

For the work situation, every room I’ve had was equipped with the same desk (approx. 1.5ft deep, 4 ft wide) and chair (fine for sitting at for a few minutes, definitely not suitable for working for a few hours). Some of the rooms have reasonably comfortable couches, some have incredibly uncomfortable “couches” that sit at the end of the bed. They’re fine for sitting at and eating room service, but terrible if you want to sit and watch tv.

The gym is now open and unrestricted. Two floors, one for cardio and one for weights / resistance. It’s generally pretty quiet, but if there’s more than 2 people in the weights room it’s pretty uncomfortable. There are two peloton bikes on the cardio floor and the hotel will loan you cleats (although they have limited sizes available).

breakfast is still room service only during the week, on the weekends it’s available in the bar area. The options are relatively limited although the quality is quite high. The prices are, as you would expect for this type of property, extortionate. For globalists it’s entirely wiped off of the folio at check out, including the tip (and delivery charge too, for room service).

As a globalist I’ve never been proactively upgraded (I always book the lowest room category available) and after asking I’ve been (reluctantly) upgraded to higher category non-suite rooms. For most of my stays I’ve been out and about during the day so this hasn’t been much of an issue and the standard rooms are quite large by NYC standards. Looking at the firs escape plan floor plans the suites aren’t all that much bigger than the standard rooms.

There is a LOT of construction noise - the hotel is surrounded by construction on three sides. It’s extremely loud during the day, 5-6 days a week. There is minimal traffic noise since the streets are narrow / only have local traffic.

Drinks in the bar are quite good and relatively reasonable for nyc. Dinner options are not so great. Good, but not great.

There is a citi bike station a block away and it’s a very short walk to either Fulton St / City Hall for the subway or WTC for the PATH, so connectivity is great if you’re ok with public transport. There’s also an Amazon locker located in the gym on the same block, which is super convenient for picking up essentials / replacing forgotten items.
