Stayed here three nights at start of July. The hotel had just re-opened after being shut down for some time, presumably due to lack of tourists.
We had a King Deluxe room on the 4th (top) floor. The room is small, but the bathroom is of decent size with a good shower. There is a free mini-bar with soft drinks, orange juice, and bottled water. We were on the ocean side of the building, although the view is of the building across the street
We received a small box of chocolates and a packet of post cards at check in.
There is a daily "social hour" at the bar offering a small appetizer plate and beer/wine/coffee/tea/soft drinks - this is similar to what the Hilton Nordica offers although I am not sure if it is just for Diamonds or is for all guests at the Konsulat. My guess is that it is for all guests because I don't remember being asked for a room number.
Breakfast is the standard Icelandic breakfast and is included for all guests. We stayed in 10 hotels in Iceland on a ring road tour and there was little difference between hotel breakfasts regardless of the brand or price.
Car parking is a bit of a pain - at check-in the receptionist provided a map showing possibilities. For reasonably priced parking, there is a lot across the street from the Harpa (5 to 10 minute walk) in the P3 (cheap) zone that worked out well for us. The Hilton Nordica is much better in this respect with free parking in front of the hotel.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
The location is excellent - easy walk to anywhere in the central part of the city.
