Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center, TX [Master Thread]

Hi - would like to share our experience checking in and un-check ourselves from the hotel. Interested to hear other's opinion regarding this as well.

Context:
We were planning a stay in Plano (Dallas suburb) area for a couple of days. We looked at places where we could use our Chase certificates and this hotel seemed to fit the bill. It looked like a decent full service hotel, in a good shopping area, lots of restaurant options and easy access to freeway - Dallas is a sprawling metropolis - in case anyone did not notice ... . We applied two of my SNA - and the SNA was rejected. When the rejection came, we still saw the suite option that we picked as available for sale. I have Bonvoy Platinum status.

What happened:
We checked in, and given a room at the top floor - with M lounge access. No upgrade. We asked - Studio suite is available on app, but desk staff did not see on her system.

We have a habit of wiping things down when we got in to any hotel room. What we saw was bad.

- Some 'residue' in the toilet - let's call them brown stains since definitely we can't tell what they are. They can be wiped using Clorox wipes which we did.
- Lots of random hair in the bathroom, some in the door way, some on the floor, a few in the shower pan.
- Some crumbs on the floor

At that point - we thought we'd ask for a different room, so we did. We looked at 4 different rooms:

Alternate room #1:
- The front desk staff told us - yes we have a bigger room but it's on the 2nd floor next to the gym. We looked at it - but proximity to the gym is a no-go. We're concerned about noise. The staff also mentioned that it was not normally for sale due to proximity to the gym (noise). If were not for sale, we wonder if it were cleaned that often. We saw same type of issues on this room.

Alternate room #2, #3, #4:
- All of these rooms are smaller/standard King room, all on 6th floor.
- All have same issues, some has wet toilet seats - not sure from where - could be from cleaning solution, could be from other things ....

We took some pictures of random hairs, debris, the food stain etc. After alternate room #4, we just lost confidence in the hotel ability to clean. We decided to switch. We spoke to the F&B manager since he was the manager on duty at that time. He asked if there were other things that he could have done, such as comped us on meals, have rooms to be re-deepl cleaned etc but we declined. He committed to refund our certificate back and that's the end of it. We ended up on a Hyatt Regency up the highway at Frisco, which is not a bad property at all.

Questions:
1. Is our expectation out of line?
2. What's been your experience when presented with the same issue?

Thks.
