I'd like to buy a cheap plot of land between 5 and 10 acres where I can DIY build a small cabin as a frequent weekend/vacation getaway.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, so I have easy access to FLL, MIA and PBI. I figured FT could provide some interesting suggestions in terms of what areas I should look at if I'm looking to fly from here (reliability, price-wise, convenient flights, etc).

Just looking for advice on what areas to consider, anywhere in the US. Not really about land buying or building itself, I know it's not an easy thing!
