Of course there is. There is a rule that if the FA thinks you are drinking too much they slow you down or cut you off. Now, that doesn't mean that I like the rule and it certainly isn't possible to enforce it perfectly. But, IF someone is drinking too much and IF the FA reasonably believes they are drinking too much it is their job to slow/down stop. They can say "Please don't ask for another one because I think you are a stupid drunk" or they can say "In my professional opinion you need to drink a little less" or they can say "We would LOVE to serve you as much as you want but there is a rule that we can only serve you 1 per hour". Which one do you think is the best manners?
I agree with what you're saying but my point is that they shouldn't make up rules to explain something. Just say that "I'm sorry but I think it's best if you didn't have any more" or something.
