Gold 75K here. I have never been upgraded on an AA flight while using my AS number even though mine was the only name on the Upgrade list twice.

Here are my most recent flights on AA:
6/25 IAH-DFW Flt 1472 No upgrade
6/25 DFW-FAI Flt 2755 A321neo No upgrade (I was the only name on the list from T-12 to T-1 but, by some miracle, some else was upgraded.)
6/27 FAI-DFW Flt 2755 A321neo No upgrade. I checked in at the kiosk in FAI instead of the app to see if that made a difference. Again, though mine was the only name on the upgrade list from T-12 to T-1, someone else was upgraded).
6/27 DFW-IAH Flt 1472 No upgrade.

My boarding passes said Group 2 Exec. Plat. each time but I bet real AA EP would have been upgraded.

I both emailed AA customer service and called. I am Platinum with AA, so I am familiar with AA upgrades. I explained that, from T-12 to T-1, I was #1 on the Upgrade list and there were no names after me. Both of the AA responses said someone might have used money or miles for an upgrade less than 1 hour before departure. They suggested I use money or miles for an upgrade. I didn't think that would work when flying AA with my AS number.

I hope AS does not give more upgrades to AA elites than AA does (or doesn't) to AS.
