Depends on what you like

Seafood (although it is not traditional florida seafood) - Bonefish Grill on Thomasville closer to I-10 than town. It is a new chain started by the Outback folks, but very nice. More upscale than Outback, but similar prices. Good martinis too.

Eclectic - Cool Beans cafe. Almost more of a tapas place. On Thomasville, just after the split. small, noisy, but great food.

Good small place - Food Glorious Food, also on Thomasville just after the split. In a office complex. Outdoor seating. Great food.

Upscale - Chez Pierre. In a victorian house near downtown. Good, but expensive food, nice setting. Only creepy thing, one time used to be a funeral home.

That is about it. None of the places near the capitol are very good. Chains and sports bars are about your only other choices.
