On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving several years ago, the tram routing software malfunctioned and they were having to drive the trams manually (like a staff person with keys was in each one). It was slow but did function. There apparently are passenger tunnels accessible to transit from A-B-C underground in the center of the train tunnels that can be used in emergencies.
