Thank you.
Two more questions if I may:
1. In terms of checking COVID vaccine documentation, was it it your sense that they had already pre-validated the documentation you had provided through the pre-registration process (visit.covid.is)? Or were they seeing these documents for the first time when you arrived at KEF?
2. For a flight arriving at 6:30 am, how long would you estimate the TOTAL wait time to be (passport control and COVID check), considering that ten aircraft are scheduled to arrive from the US that same morning?
Thanks again!
It's hard to say, but it seemed that some sort of information had already been reviewed in the system. After scanning our barcodes (which we had from pre-registration), the agent sort of went 'tick tick tick' to make sure things matched up with what was on her screen.
Our flight also arrived at around that time (6:45 am), and there were a number of flights that came in then as well - I'm not sure if it was 10, but it was at least 5. Looking at our rental car receipt, we picked that up by 8:30 am, and I know that we waited about 20 minutes for the rental car shuttle (tip: don't do that, if it is Blue or Sixt, it is easy walking distance), so I would say less than 90 minutes from pulling up to the gate to leaving the airport. Again, that included a Covid test that took about 15 minutes that will no longer be happening as well. (We also shopped for duty free, which if you drink, I cannot recommend highly enough given the difference in prices, but we were very quick there (~5-7 minutes), and our luggage was just popping up on the conveyer when we walked over there, so I don't think that added any real time.)
