Name of the hotel: Mercure La Rochelle Vieux Port Sud (France)

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
This was a business stay for 2 nights. Nothing really bad, nothing super exciting as well but it makes the job. Main problem is lack of status recognition.
The hotel was obviously busy with some company meetings.
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive ?
I booked classic room with harbor view / Double bed and I got that. There is no upper category (except may be the Privilege rooms ?), but they didn’t even gave me the Privilege amenities (bathrobe, slippers, etc) which I was expecting to find in rooms as it almost always happen when you book at Mercure hotels.
- How are the rooms?
Small. I can’t imagine staying at 2 people with 2 suitcases in such a room. The view on the inner harbor was nice but the window was small
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:- Very conveniently located, 5 min walking from the train station. 10 min walking to the beautiful old town
- restaurant overlooking the harbor, with a terrace
- nice view from the room
Bad:- Small rooms as said above
- Poor status recognition (no “upgrade”, had to request the drink voucher)
- no housekeeping at all, even on-demand
. Really tired of those Covid ...... excuses to decrease service level.
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks :
Welcome drink was redeemed against a glass of wine.
There was a welcome note in the room announcing a welcome gift which was…a pen (not a joke - of course it’s not a fancy pen

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I paid around 120€/night which is “OK “ for La Rochelle. Would I return ? Not sure because of lack of ALL status recognition.
