That's the situation of a lot of places find themselves in right now which is why if you don't like what is offered, you can tell the GM but chances are they'll give you lip service and say bye-bye because that room will be sold to someone else. The overwhelming bulk of the travelling public couldn't care less about loyalty program benefits, lounges, amenities and to a degree right now even rate. People are currently paying rates without thinking twice that I can't wrap my head around. Make it look clean and offer some sort of breakfast and that's good enough for 99% of the public. If that mindset changes then maybe offerings will change. But that's not happening anytime soon.
this travel “surge” is temporary and will not last forever. It’s not a new normal from this industry but just pent up demand being worked through the system. Once it subsides, these hotels, and airlines, will find the leisure demand back to normal, but a permanent 25% or better loss of business travel.
vendors who abuse the customer relationship now will find our loyalty lacking down the road.
