Very true that Marriott nor Hilton nor whomever care about certain things right now because demand and pricing is currently surging in a lot of markets. Rhetorical Question: If property X currently has a pre-pandemic occupancy while getting an ADR that is equal or greater to what it was 18 months ago and they can do it without offering things like an airport shuttle, pool, daily housekeeping or full hot breakfast...what's their incentive to restart those things assuming that they can hire anyone to staff it?
That's the situation of a lot of places find themselves in right now which is why if you don't like what is offered, you can tell the GM but chances are they'll give you lip service and say bye-bye because that room will be sold to someone else. The overwhelming bulk of the travelling public couldn't care less about loyalty program benefits, lounges, amenities and to a degree right now even rate. People are currently paying rates without thinking twice that I can't wrap my head around. Make it look clean and offer some sort of breakfast and that's good enough for 99% of the public. If that mindset changes then maybe offerings will change. But that's not happening anytime soon.
