Additional minor aggravation is the hotel front desk lied when I called them first and asked about their breakfast. They said they had the full restaurant / breakfast buffet up. It's half a hampton inn breakfast. No cook to order. $14... I'd have stayed at a Hampton if they told the truth.

The Hilton page says it's automatically applied to the bill. A few above have mentioned vouchers. Which is it? And does it apply at checkout or daily? (If daily, an early print out of my folio should show it?)

If it applies automatically, I'll just keep spending $20. But I don't want to be stuck with $100 charge for ...... food.

Much thanks!
I don’t know that any of us can answer definitively for you about a specific property. Despite the pain, it’s probably worth confirming with the front desk exactly what the benefit looks like.

My experience with HGIs in general is that the staff brings you a check (even when it was fully comped) for you to sign (presumably after adding a tip). My assumption is that your daily check from the restaurant would show the $10 credit subtracted from the cost of breakfast. However, individual properties may do this differently. You could always review your folio mid-stay to see what it looks like.

I stayed at the Hilton Anaheim back at the beginning of June. We were told at checkin that we would each receive a $15 F&B Credit, and that we could bill the lobby Starbucks to our room and the credit would automatically be applied.

We bought $34 worth of coffee, breakfast sandwich, and mid-day granola bar (easier than you might think given the ridiculously inflated Starbucks prices inside the hotel), and billed it to our room. However, the hotel did not apply the F&B credit, and I had to email the hotel after the fact to get it applied and retroactively refunded to our card.

All that to say, I wouldn’t assume anything during the rollout of this new “perk.” I am also less inclined to trust hotels to get it right, and would verify before checking out. The best time to fix it is while you’re on property.

Also, if you have points selected as your MyWay Benefit… the F&B credit is irrelevant at HGI… you’ll get the points and no credit.
