Agreed the risk is small, but isn't the concern with USB ports (and the like) not just physical tampering, but digital tampering? The idea is you might get a trojan or a virus on your phone via the IFE (which presumably could be compromised). There are other possibilities too of course.

The policy has always been to not lock out passengers, but if/when appropriate, to dim them as needed. Tell the crew you're actively wanting to look outside and they *shouldn't* mess with it anymore.
