I don't even mind when the FA dims all the windows at once at an appropriate time of day / place in the service.
I do mind greatly if the FA locks the windows. I paid for a window seat so I can look out!
The first time I flew a UA 787 (IAD-LHR, about 5-6 years ago), one of the two windows by my J seat would only dim on the left (forward) half-- the right half remained fully "open" ... I didn't mind as this was an overnight flight and I could sleep through that, but it was a strange technical glitch.
