With a full business class cabin, aircraft equilibrium requires that Y pax sit at the back of the plane for takeoff.
That could be one reason for the blocked seat.
But fare bucket availability indicates that it is very full in J and reasonably full in Y.
Exactly, I had this on one of my QR flights from the USA to Doha, in the last months.
The J cabin was full with AAdvantage awards traveling to Malé and Economy was 40 people. The ground staff indicated that this is for weight balance purposes, although the crew has invited me to sit at the very empty front cabin of the A350 after takeoff and I enjoyed my Economy Class suite with appropriate social distancing with nobody near my 3-4 meter radius.
