For carry-on luggage, I've tried TravelPro CrewExpert vs B&R Domestic vs Rimowa Aluminum Topas. My workhorse is still the TravelPro.
I bought a Rimowa about 8 years ago, and just this past year I started traveling more consistently with it. I just personally love the aesthetics of the Rimowa before it became popular on social media. Personally, from my own view point, the cost of Rimowa is worth it from the aesthetic standpoint. Does it function better? Not really, as the TravelPro functionally beats the Rimowa hands down.
At the end, expensive luggage is like anything in life, really depends on the purchaser and their personal preferences (Balance between function, aesthetics, and price).
