reduced the discount a couple of years ago, it used to be $79, but even then it was the same for all elites below DM. Yeah - If I were paying out of pocket I don't think I'd pay more than $50 or so, but definitely a bit of a value add if Amex will pick up the tab.
I think $79 would be worth it for someone flying enough to be PM if they use airports that have it.
I'm nervous if they are offering it as a benefit that the clear lines will be long with all these new clear members since there's never a wait at any airport I've used it at. But I remember when Delta start giving it out to diamonds for free the paid clear members had the same concern.
