The nonrefundable amount always remains nonrefundable for voluntary changes. If you have qualifying schedule change then you get refund to what card waa used to buy the previous ticket. (Ecredit is just a catchall, you still have your previously unused eticket, it's just been put under a heading of ecredit.)

Thank you for your quick reply, it is much appreciated! I now have a follow up. What date is used for the e credit to expire? I assume the original expiration date? It just stays in the system under the original credit and not extended until year after the second fare would have been?
