I have been using a personal NY EZ-Pass in Hertz cars for about 10 years, most recently this past weekend. I've only had a few cases of getting double-billed from PlatePass (resolved with them after proving evidence that I paid the toll with my EZ-Pass). I had one case I remember where my transponder wasn't read; I was driving a Jaguar with a metallic windshield that masked the signal.
