Generally 50 minutes is fine. Planes are pretty full anyway, Thanksgiving or no. MCT already gives some safety margin. The thing to look at is, when is the next DFW-MSY after this one? If you're booking the last of the day, think through a plan if she misconnects due to weather and is stuck at DFW overnight with no vouchers.
