Question Hawaii, testing, and awkward timing

My wife and I are planned to be flying to Hawaii on July 7th. As you likely aware, July 4th is a holiday.

Our trip starts on the east coast. We need a test result by the time we depart to Hawaii, which will be on UA1141 around 7pm.

So I think we have two options:
  • Get the test on the 3rd at CVS and assume they come in not too early.
  • Get the test on the 5th at CVS and fingers crossed they come in by the time we get to LAX (although I imagine they'd ask for the result at check-in for the first leg)
Would love to know what you think the best option is. I am thinking it's the former.

Thanks!

I also just read that the PCR entry requirement ends on the 6th if you've been vaccinated.. isn't that just a tad convenient that we are leaving on the 7th.
