May require somebody to drop you off, and pick up (or public transport)... but may save a whole lot of time compared to doing a roundtrip. If the purpose is solely to keep your miles alive a single flight should be enough to do so.
And on top it may be a little cheaper (83 gbp for GLA-EDI on a saturday in August).
ABZ is 20 Mins max door to door and both GLA and EDI the best part of 2.5 Hrs. With the far greater choice departing GLA and EDI, its just habit I guess to mention them. from a cost and convenience perspective, I suspect an ABZ-LHR day trip will work best as I can get a lift to/from the airport without inconveniencing other folk and I'll just need to park my butt on flights all day.
