For the $160 you lost on the hotel if you booked direct (and not through a 3rd party) just call the hotel and nicely ask if there's anything they can do about the $160. Chances are if you are nice they'll just cancel with no penalty.
I called the hotel (it was booked directly) and so far they aren't able to refund it, but I am waiting to talk with a higher manager.

My card (Citibank) got rid of their trip interruption insurance a couple years ago.
