We were all warned, that travel to Australia was at your own risk. We were all warned, that the bubble can be paused at any time. We were all warned that when you go to Australia, should covid cases cause the border to be closed, New Zealand will not get you home, and you may have to do MIQ. I feel a lot of sympathy for the reasons these people left the country but I don't feel a lot of sympathy when people acknowledge that they were made aware of the risks, chose to take the risk, and now that the risk has hit them, say that the rules should suddenly change...

At the risk of sounding unkind, I was particularly interested in the comments from the person who first said she "accepted the risk" of travelling, before immediately going on to undermine that by saying "contingencies" should be in place. If you really "accepted the risk" the contingency is you making sure you have access to your own funds to support an extended stay/absence from work if things go pear-shaped.
