Take this for what it's worth but one of the agents at HNL said it was based on when more flights on JAL come through (no surprise). She seemed to think it was a month away. This is not my guess and I have no idea.
I really doubt it will be in a month or so. Maybe in the November/December time frame given the latest covid surge in Japan and given that HNL is a leisure destination for most. And who knows when Japan will allow foreigners into Japan, so I think this will be a reciprocal kind of decision.
