Thinking about doing a 1 night trip to San Diego and basically would like to be able to have a room at a place where I can then walk around for a bit, though I don't know the city that well. Looks like there's a cluster of Marriott hotels around (1) Downtown along Broadway, (2) up towards Little Italy, and (3) down in the Gaslamp Quarter. Wondering if any of these areas might be currently considered in better or worse shape than the others (in terms of safety and businesses that might be open)?
