Excellent points,
escape4 - I find myself in agreement with much of what you said.
I’m aware that Bermuda's luxury pickings are slim and I am by no means passing the destination off in its entirety, but I’m picking at the St. Regis from a design rather than a value perspective: for a hotel carrying a legendary name, the first big-ticket hotel on the island in a while and a ground-up development project, I’m upset it came out looking so clinical and devoid of personality. There are major things you can’t change like the location and a place’s service culture, but I feel like the hard product at the very least could have looked far better than it does.
Also, I echo your sentiment of TPG’s opinions not carrying weight; I stopped reading their hokum ages ago and haven’t looked back.
