We were in Bodrum last September and stayed at Amanruya and Edition. The Edition has an actual beach if that's important to you - Amanruya doesn't really have a sandy beach and the beach club set up wasn't ideal. The Edition beach was livelier and the hotel was definitely more "fun" than Amanruya. The Edition hardware was ok but you should book a higher level room / suite as some of the lower level rooms lacked privacy and were small. The pool was nice to lounge around by (a bit too cold for me to get in) and I loved the private outdoor spa cabanas with private hot tubs where you can book for a reasonable fee to have massages in (which were very good and made us feel safer during COVID). Amanruya had better food and the hardware was much better - better finishes, private pools, larger villas...etc. but was very quiet and somewhat secluded. Service was comparable at both properties which was above average for Edition and below average for Aman. Also 100% agree you can avoid mass-market if you pick the right places to go to.
