Stayed at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale and the Westin Fort Lauderdale about 5 mins walking distance away.
Both were pretty good. Rooms at both were quite nice. Our room at the Westin was a bit inconvenient (located in the conference center building with only 1, very slow elevator). The Ritz room was excellent and definitely a step above what we got in the Westin (both in terms of size and quality). We did not get suites at either but were granted multi category upgrades to Ocean Views at both. Very thankful for that.
The Westin was very well run. The FDA was so organized and knew the Bonvoy program well. He brought up the welcome amenity and explained to us that the continental breakfast is strictly continental (croissant, fruit place, orange juice, and coffee). They also told me that as a resort and convention hotel, they only offer check-out upon availability. We requested 4 PM but we’re only granted 2 PM. Not a huge deal but not a great thing either. The Ritz granted us 4 PM late check-out without any problems and let us check-in a few hours early.
FYI the beaches by these resorts are public but they provide chairs for guests.
