We are not "planning" on not keeping AS status, it just is not going to happen this year. But if I used AS miles to procure these tickets, how can I put our AA numbers onto the res? The AA taxes are much less than other routes on BA (also using AS miles), I was just surprised they were minimal on the way over and hundreds on the way back

on the AA/AS change...you can just call customer service.

on my return flight, because of schedule changes I had to rebook flights. I was give AA credit to rebook. I called the customer service rep and got the best of both worlds....my reservation is an AA reservation ( I had miles due to expire..it’s small) and because of AS ststus I go better seats.

I plan on maintaining-status thru AS bookings to 20K.if I merge my AA flights I’d Thrn by going to 25K but with the low-fat class I book i might need to book 15K -20K actual milesflown to get the AS partner status.

outside of random booking, I have this trip return on AA, a work trip RT on AA , one way on AA booked using the credit I had, and possibly Xmas travel. Where I’d be going for Xmas I have directs on AA, UA, and WN under 750 real miles.
