Renting in Germany was a rude shock to me as well. Surprisingly it was at MUC too.

I come back from a 4 day trip and they say there is a 1mm scratch on a rim. It's crazy.

To add insult to injury, the exit from the rental lot has that tight turn into a narrow exit lane with high metal bars just asking to mess up your wheels or fender.

I hit that on the last trip because the lane I was In could not read the card and had to back out and try the other one. Heard it scrape on something and drive to the job site. Spent 5 minutes looking for damage, could not find any. My coworker suggested if we couldn't find it, they would not either. I replied "they always find it". But it passed return inspection. *shrug*
