Managing a large airline isn't easy. In this case, AA is in a bind. Travelers came back faster than expected. The job market is a mess and it's tough to hire people.
So which would the general public prefer...
1) 4-8 hour hold times
2) Agents being asked to 'take one for the team' over a 2 week period to get through this operational challenge
I feel for agents who are forced to work, but 1) pretty sure the agents are unionized, so if AA is violating their agreements, that obviously would not be tolerated (someone can correct me if this is not right)... and 2) I'm guessing some of the agents still have pride in their chosen employer and are willing to step up and help without complaining.
Most of us would do the same if our companies were struggling.
