... you are correct about the Portland (PWM) to Albany (ALB) route, however we're looking for a different airline and a different aircraft - the same type for both flights.
Delta did indeed utilize the MD80 (or was it an MD88?!) for its flight out of Bangor, but the destination was not Islip / MacArthur.
well, this is 1995 ... PWM-ALB could have perhaps been United, with a 737 of some ilk (I suspect a -300 being more likely than either of the smaller brethren, esp if the flight continued to Chicago/ORD) ... as for DL's MadDog out of BGR, none of their upstate destinations (BUF/ROC/SYR) make much sense, but Newburgh/SWF is slightly more likely from a geographic standpoint
as for the MD80/MD88 distinction,
Wikipedia has this:
"
The MD-88 is, depending on specification, basically similar to the MD-82 or MD-83 except it incorporates an EFIS cockpit instead of the more traditional analog flight deck. ... Delta's initial eight aircraft were manufactured as MD-82s and upgraded to MD-88 specifications."
