This wasn't asked of me but I will answer. I've done the walk from LAX to the Hyatt or the Courtyard next to it a few times at night, most recently about two weeks ago on a Friday night around 9:30 pm. I feel it's a reasonably-safe walk; there are normally lots of vehicle traffic, very few, if any, dark spots, and there's frequently others making the trek (mainly a mix of airline crew, other staff working at LAX, and other travelers).

I will say that the traffic entering LAX earlier this month was pretty bad; it took at least 15 minutes on the Hertz shuttle to get from the entrance on Sepulveda to T1. The traffic the next morning around 7:15 am was much better but I'm pretty sure it was still quicker for us to walk to T2 than to take the shuttle.
