Looking through the internet it would appear that a ticket/coupon can be suspended while a new ticket is issued. Once the new ticket has been confirmed the old ticket is changed from suspended to exchanged. Another reason talked about is if there is a problem with payment etc then a ticket can be suspended pending resolution. There may be other reasons as well.
Either way I would phone Virgin to check what's going on.
